The North Penn Water Authority's annual fire hydrant inspection and flushing program began on April 17. The program will continue through May 19.
NPWA crews will inspect the hydrants to ensure all are in working order, and ready to function in the event of an emergency. The flushing of hydrants improves water quality by removing material build-up inside the water distribution pipes.
If water discoloration occurs, NPWA customers should run the cold water for a few minutes. If the water does not clear up, turn the tap off for 10 to 20 minutes, then run the water for a few minutes. If discoloration persists, contact the NPWA Customer Service Department at (215) 855-3617.
