Like the Zacharias Trail? Soon there will be more to love, as this wildly-popular trail will be extended into Evansburg State Park, where it will connect to an existing 24-mile trail network.
The one-mile extension will begin at the trail’s existing terminus near Green Hill Road, and continue west, towards Anders Road, before crossing into Skippack Township and Evansburg State Park. The eight-foot wide paved trail be constructed on property owned by the Commonwealth. The trail will be maintained by Worcester Township and Skippack Township.
The project is funded in part by a $326,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Worcester and Skippack worked with Evansburg State Park officials to prepare the concept plan that was submitted for grant funding. The Townships will now prepare the fully-engineered plans needed to bid and build the project. Construction is tentatively scheduled for early 2022.
Many thanks to State Representative Matt Bradford and State Senator Katie Muth for their strong support of this terrific project!
